CLS and Local Community Plan to "Pack the Pavilion" for Those in Need PDF Print

This Lenten season, while giving something up, Carroll Area Christians can also give back, through the Pack the Pavilion event. Pastor David Schafer of St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church explains how the idea came about:

"This idea was borne out of a social justice mindset of showing our school children how a community can come around those who are hungry or thirsty and require help with basic needs by "packing" the school pavilion. It is also a wonderful venue...filling the pavilion for a Christan rock concert and family time.  This is a day you won't want to miss!"

Collecting for Those in Need

Pack the Pavilion is a joint effort of Carroll Lutheran School (CLS) and The Shepherd's Staff, Carroll Food Sunday, The Blessings Building and NESAP of North Carroll to gather non-perishable foods and household items and "stuff" the outdoor pavilion at CLS. Congregations associated with the school (both Lutheran and non-Lutheran) are holding food drives in their parishes throughout the weeks of Lent.  Each week different types of items will be collected.

Coming Together to Celebrate

At the end of this community-wide effort, CLS will host a family-friendly Christian rock concert on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Local favorite Monte Leister will head up a lineup including the New Hope Praise Team and Bill & Karen Itzel. The concert will take place from 2pm to 5pm at Carroll Lutheran School. Donations of nonperishable food and household items will be accepted at the show. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Kid's activities are included.  Call 443-789-1271 for more information.
