Meet our Staff

Mrs. Linda Billig ~ Administrator

B.S. Elementary Education, Mount St. Mary’s University
M.S. Educational Leadership, Marywood University
Doctorate credits, Immaculatta University

Mrs. Billig is joining the Carroll Lutheran School family this year.  She has been the school administrator for St. Vincent de Paul School, a K-8 Catholic School in Hanover, PA.  She was most recently the Dean of Students/Administrator at Delone Catholic H.S., McSherrystown, PA.  She has also taught grades 1, 3, and 4, as well as being a full-time kindergarten aid.  Mrs. Billig and her husband have 2 grown children (Curtis and Brittany), and three grandchildren (Curtis, Ryan, and Norah).  When they are not with their family and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Billig love to camp and travel.


Elementary School Teachers:

Mrs. Jane Drozinski ~ Kindergarten

B.A. in Special Education, Hood College
Masters in Education in Reading, Loyola College
Additional graduate credits through Carroll County Public Schools and McDaniel College

Mrs. Drozinski joins us for her sixteenth year at Carroll Lutheran School. Prior to CLS, Mrs. Drozinski was a teacher for Baltimore City and Carroll County Public Schools. She is an active member of Grace United Methodist Church/NCCP where she serves as mission/outreach chair and helps with Vacation Bible School. Mrs. D. lives in Hampstead with her husband Rick, son Mark, and Lois, an aquatic turtle. In her spare time, Mrs. D. enjoys reading historical and Christian fiction and spending time with her extended family.  However, her favorite thing to do when not at school is to visit with her two, soon to be three, grandchildren (and son and daughter-in-law) in person or via Skype! Finally, Mrs. D. also enjoys visiting with her daughter who is a second grade teacher in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mrs. Lina Ferguson ~ First Grade

B.A. in Elementary Education,  Towson State College

Mrs. Ferguson has taught in public schools in Baltimore City and Carroll County and in Christian schools in Carroll County and Adams County, Pennsylvania.  She and her husband Steve also home-schooled their two sons for 8 ½ years.  Her teaching certifications have been through the state of Maryland and through Association of Christian Schools International.  Mrs. Ferguson is an active member of Westminster Baptist Church.  She enjoys cooking, working crossword puzzles, and frequenting yard sales and antique shops.  Her favorite free time activity is reading.

Mrs. Gretchen Jensen ~ Second Grade

B.S. from Towson University in Education

Mrs. Jensen returned to CLS in 2015 after a one year sabbatical.  Mrs. Jensen earned her B.S. in Education Degree from Towson State University.  She has taken many graduate level courses through Towson, Baltimore County Public Schools, McDaniel College, Carroll County Community College, Carroll County Public Schools, and Maryland Archdiocese. She has her Master’s Degree Equivalency through Maryland State Certification.  This certification is called “Advanced Professional”.   She has 23 years of experience teaching in Christian Schools, 10 being completed at Carroll Lutheran School.  Gretchen worked at Oklahoma Road Middle School for two and a half years as a Math Lab instructor.   Mrs. Jensen lives in Manchester with her husband and two younger children.   Her eldest daughter is married with 3 children, so Mrs. Jensen is a happy Grandma.  She attends Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and likes to read, sew, knit, crochet, swim, ice skate, travel and camp with her family.

Mrs. Diane Beatty-Third Grade

B.S. in Education from Towson State University

This is Mrs. Beatty’s 8th year teaching at CLS.  She taught fourth grade for 7 years. She took a one year sabbatical to substitute at Manchester Valley High School (MVHS) so as to dedicate more time to coaching cheerleading. Prior to CLS, she taught in Baltimore City at St. Elizabeth’s, after which she taught in Houston, Texas in the public school system, and came back to Baltimore to teach at St. Paul Lutheran in Catonsville. Having taught second through eighth grades, she has taught a total of 29 years, and she is eager to be back at CLS.  Mrs. Beatty is married with four children and two grandchildren. She is also the assistant cheerleading coach at MVHS.

Mrs. Penny Segessenman ~ Fourth and Fifth Grade

B.S. in Elementary Education, West Virginia University 
Masters Degree in Elementary Education, West Virginia University
MD Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Segessenman has the pleasure of beginning her fifth year here at CLS. She has 28 years teaching experience. She started her career teaching third and fourth grade in Prince George’s County Public Schools. After that she taught second, third, and fifth grade for Carroll County Public Schools. Penny and her husband, Rob reside in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. They have three children, two are currently attending West Virginia University and the youngest is a sophomore in high school. The family also includes a dog, two cats, a lizard, a bird, and a rabbit. They attend Barts Centenary United Methodist Church. Penny teaches Sunday School, directs Vacation Bible School, and hopes to start a puppet ministry. In her spare time, she makes crafts, enjoys nature, and spending time with her family. She is looking forward to a great year teaching fourth and fifth grade.


Middle School Teachers:

Mrs. Samantha Bowers ~ Middle School, English Language Arts and Seventh Grade Social Studies

B.A. in English from McDaniel College

Mrs. Bowers recently received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from McDaniel College. She continues working on her Master’s Degree through McDaniel. Samantha loves expanding her knowledge in every aspect of education, and strives and cares for the interest of the students.  At home, Samantha has a husband, two children, and two dogs.  Together they all love to spend time outdoors and with each other.  The Bowers family are members of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Hampstead.

Mr. Forrest Heacock ~ Middle School Science and Sixth Grade Social Studies

B.S. in Biochemistry from Warren-Wilson College

Mr. Heacock is looking forward to his second year at CLS.   Previously, Mr. Heacock substitute taught for CCPS for three years where he held several long-term positions, he also worked for CCPS on a provisional contract for 4 years. During this time Mr Heacock has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science, as well as several high school science courses. Passionate about all sciences, Mr Heacock has a particular interest in environmental sciences such as biology and ecology. When not teaching he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, reading novels, and playing golf.

Mr. Jeffrey Kane ~ Middle School Math

B.A. from McDaniel College in Mathematics

Mr. Kane is in his third year at our school.  He is a math geek and excited to share that with everyone around him.  He has researched, published, and presented in the field of logic.  He enjoys playing guitar, reading about US history, and running around at recess.  His favorite prime number is 8,675,309 and his favorite president is Chester Arthur.  He belongs to St. Augustine Church in Elkridge.


Support Staff:

Mrs. Keeley Carl ~ School Counselor and Health Teacher

B.S. in Special Elementary Education, Hood College
M.S. in School Counseling, McDaniel College

Keeley Carl begins her third year with the Carroll Lutheran Community. Prior to her time with Carroll Lutheran School, she went to College to get her Master’s at McDaniel and worked as an intern in both Frederick and Carroll County Public Schools. Keeley and her husband Tim, live in Taneytown, Maryland. They live with their dog, Shilo and cat, Fluffy. Mrs. Carl attends Hanover First Church of God. In Keeley’s spare time, she enjoys crafting jewelry.

Mrs. Mandy Gilbart ~ Resource Teacher

B.A. from St. Mary’s College of Md.
Special Education Certification, Reading Teacher Certification, Level 1 Wilson Certification
Masters Program and Advanced Professional Certificate in Reading, Hood College and University of Phoenix

Mrs. Gilbart has been the Resource Teacher since 2009. Her previous experience includes teaching first grade in Frederick County Public Schools and being the mentor teacher for student teachers at Hood College. Mrs. Gilbart provides reading, Fundations, and Wilson instruction to a wide variety of students at CLS.   She and her husband Chris have two daughters, one a graduate of CLS and one in the 7th grade. Their family belongs to Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster. Mrs. Gilbart enjoys scrapbooking, reading, cooking, and watching her girls play soccer and run track.


Fine Arts Staff:

Mrs. Joyce Brozik ~ Resource Librarian

Mrs. Brozik’s educational career was with Baltimore County Public Schools at Timber Grove Elementary and Franklin Middle School where she taught library media and special education for 30+ years.  Mrs. Brozik team-taught in special education classes, was assistant librarian, and initiated the Black Eyed Susan Reading Program at Franklin Middle Library Media Center.  Joyce enjoys art, reading, and cooking.  She and her husband Jim are members of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where Mrs. Brozik is Christian Education Chairman, Church Librarian and Sunday School Superintendent.  Mr. Brozik serves on the Church Council and is Property Chairman.  Joyce and Jim have four grandchildren ages 5-19 and live in Manchester.

Ms. Hannah Newton ~ Art Teacher

B.A. in Fine Art and Art History, York College of Pennsylvania

Ms. Newton is a graduate from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History. Ms. Newton has a primary emphasis in painting and a secondary emphasis in drawing. In her free moments, Ms. Newton spends as much time with her family as possible. Along with this, she helps run a family owned business called Inspire Wedding Flowers.

Mrs. Maggie Potito ~ Media Specialist

B.S. in Library Science and Social Sciences, James Madison University
M.S. in School Library Media, McDaniel College

This is Mrs. Potito’s second year at CLS.  She has spent the last 14 years working in the library at Mount Airy Middle School.  She loves to read and has worked with various reading programs in the State of Maryland.  She and her husband, Mike, love to visit different baseball parks.  They have two sons and live in Mount Airy.

Ms. Christine Giles – Physical Education

B.A. in Education and Theatre / minors in English History, University of Maryland Baltimore Campus.

Ms. Giles is looking forward to her first year at CLS.  She has taught at Saint Timothy’s Parish Day School in Catonsville, Liberty Christian School, and Chapelgate Christian Academy for a total of 40+ years, but not all at the same time.  Ms. Giles has taught a variety of different classes and grades from kindergarten to college.  She has her professional certificate through ACSI.  She lives in Westminster and is actively involved at Holy Apostles Charismatic Episcopal Church.  Ms. Giles enjoys watching and playing sports, going to the theater, reading mysteries and history, cooking, gardening and playing games.

Ms. Theresa Wire ~ Vocal & Instrumental Music

B.S. in Music Education from Towson University

Ms. Wire begins her tenth year as our General, Vocal and Instrumental Music teacher.  She has taught music in 11 private schools in Baltimore City, Baltimore and Carroll counties, totaling 25 years of experience. She performed for 19 years with Carroll County’s musical theater, September Song. She currently performs with the Chesapeake Concert Band.  Ms. Wire continues to play in church, enjoys traveling and is volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of America.  She has 4 children, 4 grandchildren and lives in Uniontown.


Before and After School Care:

Mrs. Linda Frick ~ Before and After School Care

Mrs. Frick is excited to begin her third year at CLS in the Before and After Care program.  Linda and her husband Tim have two children and live in Westminster.  She is very involved with the Youth Program at First Presbyterian Church of Westminster.  In her spare time, she enjoys movies, reading and being outside.

Mrs. Jennifer Glantzberg ~ Before and After School Care Director, Keyboarding Without Tears and Middle School Faith Studies

B.S. in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Gordon College

Mrs. Glantzberg is beginning her third year at Carroll Lutheran School as the Director of our Before and After School Care Program.  Jennifer and her husband Charles have one son in seventh grade at CLS.  They live in Westminster.  She is actively involved at Holy Apostles Charismatic Episcopal Church.  She also enjoys cooking, sewing, photography and reading.


Office:

Mr. Ezra Smith ~ Custodian

Ezra and his seven siblings were homeschooled for 12 years.  He is an active member of the Church of the Open Door where he “runs” a bus for the Bus Ministry and teaches Sunday School and Junior Church for the four to six year old class.  Ezra loves to play sports, and is a big Orioles and Ravens fan.  Ezra is looking forward to working at CLS this year. He will use his excellent work ethic and multitasking skills to take care of our building and grounds. “Mr. Ezz” has already become a welcome member of our CLS team this summer!  We are looking forward to hearing him play the harmonica this year!

Mrs. Shannon Hinkhaus ~ Bookkeeper

B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting, McDaniel College

Mrs. Hinkhaus joined CLS in August of 2013.  She left her position in the finance department at Mercy Medical Center to stay at home and raise her 3 children.  Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, card games, biking, playing soccer, sewing and reading.  She and her family live in Westminster and attend St. John Catholic Church.

Mrs. June Leppo ~ Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Leppo joins us for her 9th year here at CLS.  Mrs. Leppo’s past work experience includes working in the central office for Carroll County Public School system.  She and her husband live in Finksburg with their two children. She attends New Hope Fellowship Church.  In her spare time she enjoys fishing, hiking, kayaking, camping, and spending time with her family outdoors.

Mrs. Jennifer Molloy RN ~ Delegating School Nurse

AA Anne Arundel Community College

Mrs. Molloy has been our Delegating Nurse since 2009.  She has been in nursing since 1987 as a LPN in Georgia and Massachusetts. Jen moved to Maryland in 1990 and received her RN in 1994.  She is currently working at Carroll Hospital Center on weekends. Mrs. Molloy provides ongoing nursing assessments, emergency care, Medication Technician training, and evaluations for CLS.  She and her husband Tim have 1 child in middle school and they live in Taneytown.  She likes to spend time with family and friends, read, play games, and camp.
