Meet our Staff

Mrs. Linda Billig ~ Administrator

B.S. Elementary Education, Mount St. Mary’s University
M.S. Educational Leadership, Marywood University
Doctorate credits, Immaculatta University

Mrs. Billig has over 23 years of experience in private education, 6 of those years as a private school administrator. She has experiences in K-8 schools, as well as at the High School level. Mrs. Billig focuses on achieving and maintaining academic excellence, using traditional methods of teaching & learning, in a family atmosphere where students, parents, and staff work together to create a safe, nurturing environment where students can thrive. She accomplishes this through an ìopen doorî policy where she invites and welcomes dialog with all members of the CLS community. She believes that ìit takes a village (working together) to raise a childî. Mrs. Billig and her husband have two adult children, who attended private schools from K-12, and enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren.

Mrs. Mandy Gilbart ~ Asst. Principal for Academics & Resource Teacher

B.A. In Human Studies and Elementary Education, St. Mary’s College of Md.
Special Education Certification, Reading Teacher Certification, Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner
Masters Program in Reading/Special Education and Advanced Professional Certificate, Hood College and University of Phoenix

Mrs. Gilbart joined the CLS staff in 2009. Her previous experience includes teaching first grade in Frederick County Public Schools and being the mentor teacher for student teachers at Hood College. Mrs. Gilbart partners with parents who are navigating the special education process, and is responsible for the implementation of IEPís and 504 Plans. She provides reading intervention services and coordinates Fundations instruction. Mrs. Gilbart believes that well chosen curricula paired with outstanding instruction is the key to an excellent education for students at CLS. She works with each teacher to be certain that every childís unique needs are met. Mrs. Gilbart and her husband have two daughters who have benefited from the rigorous academic program, enrichment opportunities, and faith based learning at CLS.


Elementary School Teachers

Mrs. Jane Drozinski ~ Kindergarten

B.A. in Special Education, Hood College
Masters in Education in Reading, Loyola College
Additional graduate credits through Carroll County Public Schools and McDaniel College

Mrs. Drozinski is happy to join us for her 17th year here at CLS! She has also taught for Baltimore City and Carroll County Public Schools. An active member of Grace United Methodist Church/NCCP, Mrs. D. is involved in Sunday School, VBS and missions/outreach. Jane and her husband, Rick, reside in Hampstead. They have 3 adult children, 3 grandchildren, a lovable cat named Beau, and the famous Lois the turtle. Their daughter is also a Kindergarten teacher in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Drozinski enjoys reading, audiobooks, American history, and spending time with family, especially the grandkids!

Mrs. Lina Ferguson ~ First Grade

B.A. in Elementary Education,  Towson State College

Mrs. Ferguson has taught in public and private schools in Baltimore City and Carroll County, Maryland, and Adams County, Pennsylvania. She and her husband Steve also home-schooled their two sons for 8 years. Her teaching certifications have been through the state of Maryland and the Association of Christian Schools International. Mrs. Ferguson is an active member of Westminster Baptist Church. She enjoys cooking, working crossword puzzles, and frequenting yard sales and antique shops, and reading.

Mrs. Penny Segessenman ~ Grade Two

B.S. in Elementary Education, West Virginia University 
Masters Degree in Elementary Education, West Virginia University
MD Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education.

This is Mrs. Beattyís 9th year teaching at CLS. Previously, she taught in Baltimore City at St. Elizabethís, after which she taught in Houston, Texas in the public school system, and then came back to Baltimore to teach at St. Paul Lutheran in Catonsville. Having taught second through eighth grades, she has taught a total of 29 years experience, and she is glad to be at CLS! Mrs. Beatty is married with four children and two grandchildren. She is also the assistant cheerleading coach at MVHS.

Mrs. Diane Beatty ~ Grade Three

B.S. in Education from Towson State University

This is Mrs. Beatty’s 8th year teaching at CLS.  She taught fourth grade for 7 years. She took a one year sabbatical to substitute at Manchester Valley High School (MVHS) so as to dedicate more time to coaching cheerleading. Prior to CLS, she taught in Baltimore City at St. Elizabeth’s, after which she taught in Houston, Texas in the public school system, and came back to Baltimore to teach at St. Paul Lutheran in Catonsville. Having taught second through eighth grades, she has taught a total of 29 years, and she is eager to be back at CLS.  Mrs. Beatty is married with four children and two grandchildren. She is also the assistant cheerleading coach at MVHS.

Mrs. Mary Ann Miller ~ Grade Four

B.S. Elementary & Kindergarten Education, Penn State University
Advanced Professional Certificate (Gr 1-6) with ancillary credits in Reading and Special Education

Mrs. Miller is thrilled to return to teaching after homeschooling her sons through high school. During that time, she maintained her teaching certificate, taking a variety of coursework on teaching students with special needs as well as many reading courses. Prior to homeschooling, she taught grades 3-5 in Carroll County Public Schools. Mary Ann and her husband live on a small farm in Manchester where they have raised three sons. The Miller family attends Life Point Church in Reisterstown. Mary Ann enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and has most recently discovered the joy of kayaking. She also serves as a volunteer with 4-H.


Middle School Teachers

Mrs. Elizabeth Lintz ~ Grade 5/Social Studies (History)

B.A. in Sociology, William Paterson University
M.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice, University of Maryland College Park
M.A.T. in Secondary Education, University of Maryland University College

This is Mrs. Lintz’s first year at Carroll Lutheran School. Prior to CLS, she worked for three years as a Special Education 1:1 for Carroll County Public Schools in the Learning for Independence (LFI) program. Prior to working for CCPS, Mrs. Lintz was a Director in the Human Development and Quantitative Methodology (HDQM) department for seven years and the Director of Grant Administration and Sponsored Research for the College of Education for ten years at the University of Maryland College Park. She has also served as a Religious Education teacher and Confirmation catechist for St. Josephís Catholic Community. Mrs. Lintz lives with her husband, Brian, and younger son in Eldersburg. Her older son attends Salisbury University. In her spare time, she likes to read and watch the History channel or British mysteries on MPT and WETA.

Mrs. Nadine Roberts ~ Grade 6/English Language Arts

B.S. in Education (gr. 4-7) from Liberty University
MD Certifications in Elementary Education & Middle School English Language Arts

Nadine Roberts had been a regular substitute teacher for CLS prior to becoming the full-time ELA teacher in 2017. While teaching upper elementary grades in private schools in Maryland for six years, she employed hands-on methods that engaged her learners and inspired further inquiry. She homeschooled her own children for seventeen years, gaining experience with a broad spectrum of K-12 material. In the homeschool community, she provided middle and high school level English instruction for six years, with a special focus on developing writing skills. Returning to full-time teaching two years ago, she taught all eighth-grade subjects in a local private school, and then served as a substitute teacher for Carroll Lutheran School last year. Since her particular interest is in integrated arts, Mrs. Roberts uses every opportunity to make correlations between subjects, sometimes drawing on her own foreign and domestic travel and numerous hobbies. Mrs. Roberts lives in Union Bridge with her husband David. They have three grown children. She is a member of Church of the Open Door, where she and David work with adults with special needs.

Mr. Jeffrey Kane ~ Grade 8/Mathematics

B.A. from McDaniel College in Mathematics
MSDE Certification in Math Grades 7-12

Mr. Kane is beginning his fourth year at CLS. He loves math and is excited to share that with everyone around him. Mr. Kane has researched, published, and presented in the field of logic. He enjoys playing guitar, reading about US history, and running around at recess. His favorite prime number is 8,675,309, and his favorite president is Chester Arthur. Mr. Kane belongs to St. Augustine Church in Elkridge where he teaches an 8th grade religious education class.


Fine Arts Staff

Mrs. Maggie Potito ~ Media Specialist

B.S. in Library Science and Social Sciences, James Madison University
M.S. in School Library Media, McDaniel College

This is Mrs. Potito’s fourth year at CLS. She has spent the last 16 years working in the library at Mount Airy Middle School. She loves to read and has worked with various reading programs in the State of Maryland. She and her husband, Mike, love to visit different baseball parks. They have two sons and live in Mount Airy.

Mrs. Elizabeth King ~ Health/Physical Education

B.S. in Elementary Education from Grove City College
B.S. in Paralegal Studies from Stevenson University

Mrs. King is new to CLS for the 2017-2018 school year. She taught in an elementary school in State College, PA before becoming a stay at home wife and mother for her husband and four daughters. In recent years, she has worked for the U.S. Attorneyís Office for the District of Maryland and with a local law firm before returning to education. She has 20 years of lacrosse coaching experience, including head positions at the College (Club) and Middle School levels, as well as an assistant coach for 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade recreational teams. She is a devout Ravens and Orioles fan and loves research and writing, the beach, and being the Mom taxi.

Ms. Theresa Wire ~ Vocal & Instrumental Music

B.S. in Music Education from Towson University

Ms. Wire begins her twelfth year as our General, Vocal and Instrumental Music teacher. She has taught music in 11 private schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore and Carroll counties, totaling 27 years of experience. She performed for 19 years with Carroll Countyís musical theater, September Song. She currently performs with the Chesapeake Concert Band. Ms. Wire continues to play her instruments in church, enjoys traveling, and is volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of America. She has 4 children and 4 grandchildren and lives in Uniontown.


Before and After School Care

Mrs. Jennifer Glantzberg ~ Instructional Assistant/Before and After School Care Director

B.S. in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Gordon College

Mrs. Glantzberg is beginning her third year at Carroll Lutheran School as the Director of our Before and After School Care Program. She is excited to begin her role as Instructional Assistant, partnering with classroom teachers to work with a wide variety of students each day. Jennifer and her husband Charles have one son in eighth grade at CLS.They live in Westminster. She is actively involved at Holy Apostles Charismatic Episcopal Church. She also enjoys cooking, sewing, photography and reading.

Mrs. Linda Frick ~ Before and After School Care

Mrs. Frick is excited to begin her third year at CLS in the Before and After Care program. Linda and her husband Tim have two children and live in Westminster. Their son, Cody, is in the 7th grade at CLS. Linda is very involved with the Youth Program at First Presbyterian Church of Westminster. In her spare time, she enjoys movies, reading and being outside.


Office

Mr. Ezra Smith ~ Custodian

Ezra and his seven siblings were homeschooled for 12 years. He is an active member of the Church of the Open Door where he ìrunsî a bus for the Bus Ministry and teaches Sunday School and Junior Church for the four to six year old class. Ezra loves to play sports, and is a big Orioles and Ravens fan. Ezra enjoys working at CLS. He uses his excellent work ethic and multitasking skills to take care of our building and grounds.

Mrs. Shannon Hinkhaus ~ Bookkeeper

B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting, McDaniel College

Mrs. Hinkhaus joined CLS in August of 2013. She left her position in the finance department at Mercy Medical Center to stay at home and raise her 3 children. Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, card games, biking, playing soccer, sewing and reading. She and her family live in Westminster and attend St. John Catholic Church.

Mrs. Cindy Morrison ~ Administrative Asst./School Secretary

Mrs. Morrison joined CLS in June of 2017. Mrs. Morrisonís past work experience includes working for ten years at Trinity School of Frederick in their administrative office. She and her husband have two children and live in Mt. Airy. She attends Calvary United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, reading, walking with her two dogs and spending time with her daughter in Frederick and her son who is attending Stevenson University.
